The Yucatan, Mexico
Day 1: Merida, Cenote, and Valladolid
Grab your family and head to Merida, the capital of the Yucatan state, named the World’s Best Small City 2019 by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Stop for a refreshing swim in a cenote, a freshwater sinkhole that was once sacred to the ancient Maya people.
Continue to Valladolid, a bustling Maya city with a special colonial flavor, for lunch. Enjoy people-watching, admiring the traditional dress of the Maya, and appreciate the pastel-colored buildings around the Main Plaza. After free time for lunch, continue to your well-appointed home for the next two nights.
Day 2: Uxmal and Hacienda Sotuta de Peon
In the morning, dive into the ancient Maya world with a private tour of Uxmal, a once-mighty Maya city with a stunning Governor’s Palace, Nunnery Quadrangle, and a large ball court. The kids will also love visiting the mighty Pyramid of the Magician, which has a mystical and fantastical story attached to its creation.
After, the adventure continues with a visit to the living-museum, Hacienda Sotuta de Peon. Learn about the Yucatan’s haciendas, which functioned like the plantations in the southern US, and about henequen (sisal fiber), which was the source of the Yucatan’s wealth during the Colonial Era.
Tour the processing plant, which is still in action, visit the beautiful main house, and take a mule-drawn rail cart tour of the fields. Also enjoy a delicious lunch of regional cuisine ending with a swim at the on-site cenote.
Day 3: Celestun Biosphere Reserve
Head to the stunning Celestun Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and year-round home to flocks of bright pink flamingos. Hop in a speedy boat and navigate the winding canals of this vast mangrove and wetlands complex to visit the flamingos.
Return to the boat dock in the town of Celestun for a delicious meal of local seafood or whatever you choose under the shade of a thatched-roof palapa restaurant.
After, continue to Chichen Itza to settle into an accommodation very close to the famous ancient Maya ruins.

The District Six Tour and Lunch
Take a tour of District Six, which chronicles the injustice and racial intemperance dating from South Africa’s apartheid period. After the tour, it’s a short hop to a local restaurant to satisfy your appetite at lunch, choosing from a variety of meat dishes or a tasty vegetarian plate from a set menu.
City Walking Tour and Optional Shopping at V&A Waterfront
After lunch, stroll through the city’s historic center and visit landmarks including Company’s Garden Park, the Houses of Parliament and St. George’s Cathedral. Conclude your tour where the city meets the sea—at V&A Waterfront—where there are over 450 local and international shops, a bevy of dining options and leisure and entertainment facilities for you to explore on your own. Travel to a beautiful estate located minutes from historic Windsor. Then, grab a bow and arrow and put your marksmanship to the test as you take in the idyllic pastoral setting.
Lunch On Your Own in Windsor
Delight in a midday meal in the quaint town of Windsor, and then explore it at your leisure. The Royal Borough of Windsor is home to the historic Windsor Castle—the Queen of England’s favorite weekend getaway—and is filled with excellent shops, boutiques and pubs.
Windsor Castle
See how Kings and Queens live as you walk the grounds of Windsor Castle, home to the British royal family since the 11th century. A local guide will accompany you to provide commentary on the history of the castle and its stunning grounds. Still used as a royal residence, Windsor Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world. Following the tour, you will have time to further explore the grounds and take pictures on your own.

DAY 1: REYKJAVÍK, ICELAND
Arrive in Iceland early and stop for a dip in the Blue Lagoon, a perfect introduction to Iceland’s geothermal landscape. Explore the lagoon’s volcanic origins and learn about the curative powers of its naturally heated seawater. Check into your Reykjavík hotel and enjoy lunch on your own. During an afternoon walking tour, photograph colorfully painted houses and the immense Hallgrímskirkja Church, or delve into Viking history at the Reykjavík City Museum’s Settlement Exhibition. Young travelers will have the opportunity to make friends with local Icelandic children as they gather to explore the Whale Museum together, in addition to learning about one another’s daily lives and cultures.
Day 2: Golden Circle
Travel to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site situated in the rift valley between the Eurasian and the North American tectonic plates. Against a backdrop of mountains and a wildflower-dotted lava plain stands the ancient stone site of the Althing, the world’s oldest and still-governing legislative assembly. Savor lunch at a local farm, complete with homemade ice cream then continue to the geothermal wonderland of Geysir, where the Strokkur geyser shoots hot water 90 feet in the air. At Gullfoss, or “Golden Falls,” take a spectacular ridge-top hike to witness the powerful force of the Hvítá River as it drops nearly 100 feet in two voluminous cascades.
DAY 3: WESTFJORDS PENINSULA
This morning, fly to the Westfjords Peninsula and discover a pristine landscape of fjords and fishing villages tucked into tiny harbors. Set off on a guided walk through Ísafjörður, meeting locals and learning about the history of the peninsula at the Westfjords Heritage Museum. After lunch at a traditional fish storehouse, take a boat trip to the island of Vigur, home to thousands of seabirds. Taste traditional treats with a local family at their 19th-century farmstead and return to Ísafjörður for dinner.
