Single Parents Who Travel summer 2024 Egypt group trip

Happy Summer, Single Parents Who Travel!

I am delighted to write this letter to you from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

I’m sitting in a cabana with my son and other Single Parents Who Travel friends as we sip on cool drinks and watch our children play in the sand. I’d like to thank you all for being part of our Single Parents Who Travel global community. For those of you who are new to our group, we’ve been doing annual family vacations for FIVE YEARS now — we have sailed on a Caribbean cruise, hit Jamaica and Mexico,  traveled across Central America, and are currently preparing for our SECOND trip this year, the  Single Parents Who Travel Winter 2023 family vacation to Munich, Germany, and Prague, Czech Republic this December!

We are super excited to announce the Single Parents Who Travel 6th Annual Family Vacation which will take place in, drumroll please, one of MY personal bucket-list destinations, EGYPT

That’s right, we’re going to ancient Egypt as one big Single Parents Who Travels family. Take an 8-DAY, 7-NIGHT adventure with us from July 9 to 16, 2024, to do all the awesome things you’ve probably dreamed of, including visiting the pyramids, visiting King Khufu’s tomb, sailing the Nile River on a luxury cruise ship, riding camels with your kid or kids, and so much more! My son is now in 5th grade but ever since 3rd grade, I knew that he had been excited about discovering ancient Egypt as well as ancient Greece, Rome, and other ancient civilizations. How awesome will it be to not only educate our kids in real-time on the ancient ruins of Egypt, but also be able to enjoy ourselves by staying in luxury accommodations the entire trip?

We’re stoked to be able to bring this trip to you all, with a savings of more than $1300 for ONE child under the age of 12, per adult, for our first trip to Africa. We’re looking forward to connecting with as many of you as possible, which is why we are making this trip ESPECIALLY affordable and easy for everyone (nearly all aspects of the trip (minus some meals, taxes, and visa fees) are included in the trip’s cost, minus airfare to Egypt!).

So don’t wait! Take advantage of our nearly year-long payment plan by buying into our LIMITED SEAT TRIP by placing a $250 deposit per person. Register NOW to reserve your spot before the flash deal ends. I promise these spaces will go quickly, so don’t wait and hopefully, we will see you in Egypt!

Cheers!

CAIRO GROUP EXCURSION

Cairo, the Triumphant City, is the glorious capital of Egypt, the cradle of civilization, and the beacon of religion. It is the largest city in the Middle East and Africa, and lies at the center of all routes leading to and from the continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Greater Cairo extends on the banks of the River Nile to the south of its delta. It is the city where the past and present meet. On its East Side stands the evidence of 2000 years of Islamic, Christian Coptic, and Jewish culture still flourishing to this day. On its West Side lies the Ancient Egyptian city of Memphis (Giza), the renowned capital of the Old Kingdom and the site of the Pyramids, the only wonder of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World surviving. Indeed, a journey through Cairo is a journey through time, a journey through the history of an immortal civilization.

GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA AND SPHINX

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid and served as the tomb of pharaoh Khufu (Cheops), who ruled during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. It has three burial chambers inside, which can be accessed through the “Robbers’ Tunnel”. A sloping passageway named the Grand Gallery leads to three chambers – the “Queen’s Chamber”, the King’s Chamber, and the Subterranean Chamber.

Sitting not far, the Great Sphinx of Giza stands at 65 feet tall and is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion.

The journey between the two will be on a camel ride to assist in the exploration, before grabbing a quick included lunch and heading off to the next stop.

SAQQARA’S ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE

Known to be one of the most historical areas in Egypt, Saqqara’s archaeological site was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in the 1970s. Preceding the other pyramids by centuries, this pyramid exists as the first to be built in Egypt, designed by Pharaonic architecture, Imhotep. Kings and noblemen from the very first two dynasties were buried here, and this is also the location of the Step Pyramid of Djoser.

CARPET FACTORY

Tour the depths of the carpet-making world. Pick up the intense work that goes into weaving the Egyptian handmade carpets, and the history behind them, before heading back to the hotel for the night.

CITADEL, COPTIC MUSEUM, AND CIVILIZATION MUSEUM

Citadel sits proudly on Mokattam Hills of Old Cairo. Previously serving as the nerve center of Egypt for almost 700 years, the Citadel now holds a fascinating monument to medieval warfare. Once you have finished looking through the hallowed halls of the Citadel, head outside to explore a bit of Old Cairo, the eldest district of the Egyptian capital. From serving as the City of Phas to later becoming the Christian center of Egypt, the area is rife with history, churches, and monuments to discover. Bring history into a new context as you tour the Coptic Museum. Filled with one of the richest collections of Coptic Christian arts in the world, this museum holds around 16,000 pieces to discover.

Take a step back through time at the Civilization Museum. Hosting a range of objects and information that speaks to the diversity of Egyptian civilization, this museum boasts interactive displays and cutting technologies and even has a section on the process of mummification.

ASWAN CRUISE EXCURSION

Aswan is a captivating city located on the east bank of the Nile River in southern Egypt. It holds a significant place in the country’s history, boasting ancient landmarks, breathtaking natural scenery, and a vibrant cultural heritage.

The city of Aswan is renowned for its distinct charm and slower pace compared to other bustling Egyptian cities. Its warm and sunny climate coupled with the serene waters of the Nile River creates a tranquil atmosphere that attracts travelers seeking relaxation and exploration.

ASWAN HIGH DAM

Completed in 1971, this dam sits north of the border between Egypt and Sudan, capturing the power of the Nile in the world’s largest artificial reservoir, Lake Nasser. Enjoy the beauty of the world’s longest river stretching through the country before taking a short motorboat trip to visit the Philae Temple. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, the Temple of Philae is attached to many legends and myths connected to the gods. Also, explore the joys of Nubian cooking and understand the balance of spices, curries, and baking, completing your cooking session with a family meal.

KOM OMBO

Kom Ombo is a small agricultural town that gets its attention for being home to the Kom Ombo Temple. It is dedicated to two Egyptian deities, the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Horus. This twin temple sets up two of everything from the halls, to the courts, to the sanctuaries themselves. While not all remains of the temples, the site still holds several relics, columns, and friezes dedicated to the gods.

EDFU

Once in town, take a relaxing horse-drawn carriage ride to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. Known as one of the best preserved Egyptian sanctuaries, this temple is filled with wall carvings speaking to religion, daily life, and mythology of the area.

LUXOR CRUISE EXCURSION

Luxor, often referred to as “The World’s Greatest Open-Air Museum,” is a captivating city located on the east bank of the Nile River in southern Egypt. Renowned for its wealth of ancient Egyptian monuments

THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS AND QUEENS

Head to the West Bank near Luxor for a tour through history at the Valley of the Kings, which houses the burials of numerous Pharaohs including Ramses III, Tutankhamun, and Seti I.

Journey a bit south to explore the next site, known widely as the Valley of the Queens, as well as being the final resting place for Nefertiti amongst others. Take time to explore the site, venturing to the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut and the neighboring Colossi of Memnon.

KARNAK

Located in Thebes, the Karnak temple was dedicated to Amun, god of Thebes at the time, and comprises three main temples, smaller enclosed temples, and several outer temples. Explore the site including the three main temples of Mut, Monthu, and Amun.

LUXOR TEMPLES

Head to Thebes to journey to the Luxor Temple, which previously hosted rituals and festivals. Previously operating as the center of the festival of Opet, the Temple of Luxor reconciled the human aspect of the ruler with his divine office.
